Real Estate Article:  Questions You Should Ask Inspectors

I encourage you to talk to inspectors before you find the perfect home. This will give you a chance to find out about the inspectors when you aren't under time pressure.

Here are a list of sample questions for the inspectors:

  • How much do you charge?
  • Do I need to pay you at the inspection or at the closing? (NOTE: Some inspectors may offer a discount on their price if you pay them at the inspection.)
  • What is the scope of your inspection?
  • How quickly can you normally get to an inspection?
  • About how long will your inspection take?
  • May I accompany you during the inspection?
  • Will I receive a written report and what format do you use? When will it be ready?
  • What are you qualifications and how long have you been doing inspections?
  • Do you have Errors and Omissions Insurance?

Be sure to let your inspector know any particular concerns you have about the home.
